In Santa Fe, there is a wonderful store called KESHi, where they sell Zuni arts and crafts. KESHi has the most amazing collection of Zuni fetishes, spiritual animal carvings. My best friend & I lost ourselves there on several visits; each time leaving the store with the perfect spirit animal fetish in our possession.
During my first trip I was drawn to a wonderful turquoise Eagle. It brought me back to a shamanistic vision quest I participated in (at an HR conference of all places!) several years earlier.
According to the KESHi brochure, Eagle “takes you on a journey of flight which opens you to new vistas of perception and new dimensions of awareness… an invitation from Eagle totem to look at things with new eyes”. According to shamanicjourney.com, “the Eagle’s medicine includes swiftness, strength, courage, wisdom, keen sight, illumination of Spirit, healing, creation, knowledge of magic, ability to see hidden spiritual truths, rising above the material to see the spiritual, ability to see the overall pattern/big picture, connection to spirit guides and teachers and higher truths, great power and balance, dignity with grace, intuitive and creative spirit…”
The color turquoise, is associated with energy, wisdom, creativity, emotional balance, friendship and intuition. The stones are believed to effect the throat chakra and support truthful communication, self realization and creative energy.
Thus, while a little mind blowing at the time, it was not really a surprise when during my CTI Fulfillment training class while I was being coached in front of the room, more than 8 years after bringing my turquoise Eagle fetish home from Santa Fe, the coach said to me, “I’m getting an image of an Eagle.”
Thus my life purpose statement “I am the eagle who inspires and empowers others to fly” and my logo was born.
